- This is believed to be the first state of the first edition; Temple Scott and Todd describe it as very rare, Scott considering it a "trial" state.
- This issue lacks the half-title and has a 7 line dedication on p.[3], but the text is the same as in other first edition states (Todd).
- Williams' description of it as "Issue A" mis-describes the title, but he had not seen it.
