- Shopping News was a UK based journal (1938-1948) published in London by Messers. Lencil Ltd. This journal covered the Second World War and post-war years, before it was rebranded as Shopping, Shopping Magazine and then Woman and Shopping in 1949, 1951 and 1954 respectively. This publication was designed for a female audience seeking current news and tips about the shopping scene, as well as offering practical war-time advice on ways of saving money on purchases during a time when household budgets were stretched. Articles and advertisements often offered guidance on materials in order for the consumer to make their own versions of store-bought items, such as clothing and drapery items.
