American independence the interest and glory of Great-Britain : A new edition. The whole of which shews, beyond Denial or Doubt, that by granting the Colonists an unrestrained civil Freedom and Legislative Independence, we may most effectually secure their future Commercial Dependence upon, and consequently shall best promote the Interest and support the Glory of, Great-Britain. It is not to be hoped, in the corrupt State of human Nature, that any Nation will be subject to another, any longer than it finds its own Account in it, and cannot help itself. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * No Creatures suck the Teats of their Dams longer than they can draw Milk from them, or can provide themselves with better Food; nor will any Country continue their Subjection to another, only because their great Grand-Mothers were acquainted.
