The year of 2024 is the 9th ICBE. The conference is held to serve as a venue for researchers, faculties, and students to discuss current studies and societal problems relevant to the theme in order to contribute to developing the knowledge of business, management, and economics and recognizing or finding alternative solutions for the social problems. The ICBE consistently carries out the theme of Creating, Managing, and Distribution Wealth with the sub-theme is set differently each year. The sub-theme of the ICBE 2024 is Opportunities and Challenges in a Circular Economy towards a Sustainable Future. The idea came up from the concern on the impacts of linear economy that has caused the climate, biodiversity, and pollution crises and creates a significant burden on the environment as products extracting from resources are discarded after used as waste. Circular economy is considerably an alternative that can play a critical role in solving these crises. A circular economy is designed with the intention to maximize use of resources and minimize waste generated for disposal. It recaptures waste as a resource and thus promote a sustainable use of natural resources. A circular economy gives stimulation to reusing products and extracting new resources and thus can help tackling the problem of pollution. Besides a unique opportunity to preserve the environment, it can also achieve sustainable economic benefits. The environment preservation can be achieved through a better use of natural resource, the emissions of greenhouse effect reduction, human health and the biodiversity protection, the economies boosts, and creation of more job opportunities. For businesses, adopting a circular economy can reduce costs, increase efficiency, create new revenue streams, and enhance customer loyalty. However, there are still many challenges in shifting from a linier economy to a circular economy. One of the biggest challenges is changing the mind sets and behaviours of producers, consumers, and policymakers. Achievability of the concept is still in question despite many studies and actions have been initiated. This conference is a path to give contribution to promotig the concept of circular economy through sharing insights, opinions, and findings of studies on circular economy and discussing opportunities and challenges in adopting the concept for achieving sustainability in the future.
