With China's rise in military power and the nuclear missile threats from North Korea, international relations were becoming increasingly severe. On the domestic front, Japan was also facing the challenges of a declining birthrate and an aging and declining population. The Liberal Democratic Party opted for some ambitious foreign policies and aimed to revitalize the economy through Abenomics. The country hired more foreign workers and put an emphasis on empowering women in the workforce. However, Japan is once again faced with new trials after the coronavirus pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine." -- Page [1] of cover
