Biography/History:
Moşe David Iancovici (later changed to Moshe David Schub, upon his emigration to the Holy Land in 1875), born in Moinești, Romania, to a family of Bohush Hassidim (named after Buhuși, Romania), and emigrated through the Balkans to Palestine and was among the founders of Rosh Pinah and Mishmar ha-Yarden; he was an activist for Zionist causes and corresponded with Theodor Herzl.
Summary:
Letter of autobiographical and historical content, by which an epistolary and lengthy response of the subject in an earlier letter with Keren Hayesod was precipitated; Schub recalls his work in founding of two Jewish settlements in the Holy Land, and emphatically pronounces that this is the rendering of the Messianic redemption of the Jewish people. Written in a cursive script, with cross-throughs and annotations; Schub's stamp at upper right (indicating that he lived at Safed).
