- Summary:
- The eccentric creativity of experimental filmmaker, poet and artist Fernando Sampietro (1951-1984) has a lot of alienation, and lack of accommodation, with respect to the culture of a historical moment dominated by the division between liberals and revolutionaries. A marginal figure within a forgotten work, Sampietro's artistic production, characterized by its transgressive and provocative content at the time -with different variations of Pink Floyd's cow, Andy Warhol's Campbell's soup can, and a sample of color photographs of the rooftops of Mexico City in the eighties, with their "tinacos" (water tanks), TV antennas and clotheslines- emerge from obscurity in the postmodern age. Martín Casillas, one of the founders of the newspaper El Economista and coordinator of its first cultural pages, would later create the independent publishing house that published the book "Marilyn Monroe y yo", Sampietro's poetry work that became a cult. This present work brings together for the first time almost all of his artistic and literary production, made in little more than a decade. And it pays tribute to the true Duchampian who, as well as reinterpreting Warhol, Picasso, the Stones or Duchamp himself, among many others, opened an original vein in national creation that impacted the generations that followed him.
