- From Colton Storm catalogue: "With her husband the author left West Virginia for Kahoka, Missouri, in 1865. In 1872 they made a trip to Kansas by wagon and settled in Russel, Kansas, where her husband went into the cattle business. Indians, buffalo, locusts, etc. lent variety to life in Russel, which they left in 1880 to return to Kahoka. Trips to Texas and the great Northwest in 1905-06 gave the author an opportunity to describe her adventures there."
