- From the Colton Storm catalogue: "George N. Propper's report as surveyor and engineer, dated October 31, 1865, will be found in 39th Congress, 1st Session, Executive Document No. 58. The survey for the road started on the Missouri River opposite the mouth of the Cheyenne and ran east to the Minnesota border. Propper claims the lack of military protection, promised so glibly in the broadside, prevented surveying west of the Missouri. "
