- Summary:
- A moving story about a beautiful but simple farmer's daughter who, despite her angelic name is seduced by a slick pimp form Marseilles and follows him to the city. Saturnin, the loyal farm hand, visits Angèle and finds her in a brothel with an illegitimate child in her arms and brings her back to the farm. Her father locks her up in a barn but she is freed by a noble peasant who could not forget Angèle's beauty and innocence.
