Summary:
In the framework of the European Capital of Culture Salzkammergut 2024, the Kammerhof Museum Gmunden shows the exhibition GRAFIK IN EUROPA. It encompasses six graphic editions that were all published by the Galerie Peter Lindner in Vienna for different occasions. The exhibition aims to act as a call back to the long-standing collaboration of the Gmundner symposiums for Concrete Art and the Galerie Peter Lindner. Comprised of 155 works by 71 artists from 22 EU countries, the Kammerhof Museum shows a cross section of European Constructive/Concrete/Conceptual art through examples of print graphics and multiples spanning 22 years. Many of the artists took part in the exhibitions during the symposiums in Gmunden, held lectures or participated in discussions. Around the time of the beginning of the century, an axis began to form in Austria. The Galerie Orms in Innsbruck with Heinz Gappmayr, Peter Weiermair and Günther Dankl, as well as the Galerie Lindner in Vienna with Carl Aigner; Dieter Bogner and Burghart Schmidt a.o. Located in the middle of the two points the symposiums in Gmunden took place every year from 1989 to 2009 and were attended by many important figures of the art world, and showed works of 600 intern. artists in Gmunden.
