To promote his latest album, *Circuits*, with a European tour, Chris Potter called on Craig Taborn, Tim Lefebvre, and Justin Brown to replace James Francies, Lindsay Marthe, and Eric Harland, who were unavailable. They would respond — in a different but significant way — to the leader's expectations for connecting jazz to contemporary dance music without sacrificing coherence. The relentless rhythm (Justin Brown regularly partners with Ambrose Akinmusire and Thundercat, and Tim Lefebvre has passed through the Bowie universe), the universal energy, and the saxophonist's untiring, powerful breath are proof that they seek out the groove like a Holy Grail.
