Summary:
Recorded in 1981 by Belgian television, trumpeter Maynard Ferguson returns to the Brussels Jazz Club with a beginner's enthusiasm; he is already fifty years old, but his big band is made up of young people who are passionate about jazz-rock. It was with large groups that he just released several very popular albums in the 1970s, including covers of pop hits and film scores. In a concert where he sets the tone with showy solos (including that of pianist David Ramsey), his repertoire begins with a version of Weather Report's "Birdland" and ends with "Rocky II Disco" at the same fast tempo. A fan of fast and loud fusions, iconoclast Maynard Ferguson made tons of them. Whether you like it or not, it's something to see! Delhaye
