- Summary:
- Often described as the ambassador of flamenco jazz, a term he does not use himself, saxophonist and flutist Jorge Pardo effortlessly combines improvised tracks with elements of the brilliant Andalusian culture. This impressive concert encapsulates the rich ambience the musician creates. You'll find jazz instruments such as double bass, drums and, though less prominent, harp and harmonica. But there are also elements typical of Spanish music, starting with the guitar playing and, of course, the vocals. This incredible concert impresses first and foremost with the fluidity of its tracks and ability to synthesize multiple cultures. A beautiful succession of brassy, skilfully rhythmic tracks (we'll avoid the word “fusion”) and sensual choreographic moments. Pardo leaves plenty of room for solos, including a dreamy violinist, a daring harpist and some divine backing vocals. The highlight of the evening is a distinctly flamenco track that shines a light both on Jorge Pardo’s mastery of the transverse flute and the grace of the dancer, all carried by an impeccable orchestra.
