As the birthplace of jazz with luminary figures such as Louis Armstrong, a crucible of funk with groups such as The Meters and The Neville Brothers, and an open-air studio for urban rhythms such as bounce, the Crescent City (a nod to the meandering Mississippi) is at the very core of the musical universe. The three bands performing here embody the wealth of local talent. Heirs to the rock scene, The Breton Sound offers an effective electronic production coupled with a clear sense of melody. The unique River Gibson's folk set is disarmingly authentic. And Soul Rebels have a knack for capturing the essence of the Louisiana melting pot with brilliance. Lovers of groovy syncopation, reggae, jazz and rap, the eight musicians envelope everything in an organic sound to great effect.
