Summary:
The Soul Rebels, who the Village Voice described as "the missing link between Public Enemy and Louis Armstrong," assume their full dimension on stage, when they are not simply walking the streets of New Orleans as one of the most popular brass bands. The octet formation, which mainly consists of brilliantly revisiting popular hits (Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Allen Toussaint, Eurythmics ... ), works every time. Jazz festival-goers in Sète had the chance to experience it here, in the magnificent setting of the Théâtre de la Mer, transformed into a dancefloor after fifteen minutes of music at sunset. Without ever giving the impression of forcing their talent, the rhythm and brass sections grind a groove that stays clear of dead time, one which eases you into submission. Eric Delhaye
