- A link between Danyèl Waro and the group Lindigo, the charismatic Christine Salem stands out for her seductive musical mixes. Captured on the stage of 360, a new concert hall located in Barbès, the Reunionese singer offers, for the fourteenth edition of the Au Fil Des Voix festival, a set for the less authentic. Fundamentally incantatory, the maloya of the former singer of Salem Tradition here testifies to a complex island culture, marked in particular by syncretism and incandescents served kabaré-syle. Surrounded by a tight band including the violinist Frédéric Norel and the stainless guitarist Seb Martel, Christine Salem confirms the good health of this Creole melting pot through eleven titles, most of them taken from the recent “Mersi.” This is particularly the case of the empathetic “Tyinbo;” the bluesy "Izaé;" or even the syncopated “Anou.” Punctuated by local instruments such as the kayamb, the percussion instrument composed of stems of sugar cane flowers, this set by Christine Salem exudes above all a search for origins.
