Summary:

For the Eastwoods, artistic creation is a family affair. Son of filmmaker Clint Eastwood, Kyle Eastwood has been a part of the international jazz scene for more than twenty years. Coming from a family of music lovers (his father frequently enhanced his films with African-American or country contributions such as in “Play Misty For Me,” “Honkytonk Man” and “Bird”), the double bass player paid tribute, in 2019, to this fertile environment with Cinematic, an anthology inspired by directors as different as Jacques Demy, Martin Scorsese, and of course Clint Eastwood. Largely inspired by the said project, the set given in July 2021 on the heights of Chamonix, on the occasion of the latest edition of the Cosmo Jazz Festival, literally won the audience. Surrounded by an alert quintet including Andrew McCormack on piano and Chris Higginbottom on drums, the American composer delivers, for the occasion, urban climates which obviously give sharp contrast with the natural setting. The culmination of this concert, the main theme of Charade, the Hollywood classic by Stanley Donen immortalized by Gary Grant and the sublime Audrey Hepburn, gains strength here and thus allows the spectator-listener to (re)discover the visionary genius of a certain Henry Mancini: lights, camera, action!
