- Robert Mugge's film is a documentary on the blues, released in 1991, inspired by critic and author Robert Palmer, initiated and funded by David A. Stewart (musician known for his band Eurythmics with Annie Lenox) and his brother John J. Stewart. A true road movie — with filming that took place between Memphis and the counties of northern Mississippi — it follows the thread of the characteristics of the blues, the Delta, and the hills. Both men and women agree to answer Stewart's questions, bluesmen take out their guitars and play on the steps of their homes, and performers appear in concert halls. The images bring together sound and environment, context and function; it’s an essential journey. Marion Paoli
