- Summary:
- An Alpen lake in summer, mountains swept by sensuous clouds, spectators scattered here and there on the rocks, and musicians playing without artifice or electricity. This is the unique setting of the creation of French trumpet player Erik Truffaz for the Cosmo Jazz Festival, an annual event that has been putting on high-altitude concerts in the Mont-Blanc region since 2010. For the occasion, Truffaz treats himself to a little shot of nostalgia by joining with one of his former drummers, Philippe Garcia, as well as another old-time collaborator, Jean-Jacques Pedretti, a trombonist with whom he used to play the Alpen horn in the parks of New York back in the nineties. In an ambiance so far removed from the world of electro, pop and ambient music in which he normally moves, the trumpet player has the time of his life, between a mini fanfare dub and a "nature boy" duet that echoes back from the mountains.
