Summary:
Renowned for performers and genres such as Melina Mercouri, Angelique Ionatos and the lively or the lively rebetiko, Greece boasts a complex repertoire. European cradle coupled with a key geographical location (the territory encompasses the southern tip of the Balkans and cultivates an obvious proximity to the Orient), this country crosses a host of rhythms and scenes. Embodying this richness, Dafné Kritharas blends a variety of influences including Sephardic culture, after the illustrious Jewish community of the Mediterranean, and the astonishing Greco-Armenian tradition and its radiant melodies. Scheduled to appear at the Cosmo Jazz Festival in 2023, the Franco-Greek singer confirms all the good things the artistic world already said of her, as evidenced by a prestigious prize awarded by the Académie Charles Cros. Surrounded by Lina Belaïd on cello cello and Paul Barreyre on guitar, Dafné Kritharas offers an unusual singing tour, in the setting of the Loriaz mountain pasture, high above Chamonix. Equally vulnerable and powerful, her voice fascinates. The phenomenon echoes the fado of Lisbon's Alfama and, of course, Ladino singing on the Iberian peninsula. This pervasive nostalgia seduces the close audience, who naturally cheer the heavenly-sounding poetess. Vincent Caffiaux
