- Summary:
- Two hours of improvised jamming, then reduced, like a good sauce, to twelve minutes, to extract the full-bodied taste. Three spellbinding tracks served on a slow-tempo platter, released in 2017. This groovy little gem, concocted by the four friends Wayne Snow, FKJ and Darius & Crayon, is characterized by neo-soul flavors, jazz harmonies, hip-hop rhythms and a mellow sound. Regrouped under the name The Nightbirds, here the four musicians unveil “Midnight Run,” “Gonna Be Alright,” and “Goodbye,” the fruits of a totally improvised session which attests to their close bond as members of the label Roche Musique. Snow’s voice blends effortlessly with the soulful keys, sensual basslines and syncopated drumming of Darius, Crayon and FKJ, all masters in the art of producing little jewels of groove. Accompanied by images captured in the streets of Paris and in the studio, where the atmosphere is just as nebulous as their music, The Nightbirds take us on a thrilling first ride – this is the debut show of this new group, who have just released “U & I,” a track from the House of Groove compilation.
