- Three years after the passing of the monumental jazz figure Miles Davis, ESP2–an ensemble comprised mainly of members of Davis’s late period electric bands–performed a tribute to the master at the Stuttgart Jazz Open. With Davis veterans Robert Irving III and Adam Holzman on keyboards, Randy Hall on guitar, Ricky Wellman on drums and Mino Cinelu on percussion joined by the bassist Victor Bailey and the saxophonist David McMurray, ESP2 draws on Davis repertoire from across the spectrum of his long career, giving even the bebop classic "Donna Lee" and the Kind of Blue staple "Blue in Green" a taste of funk. A special highlight is the impassioned version of the Davis tribute, "The Man With the Horn" with background vocals from Carla Cook.
