"Since 1975, an annual colloquium has been held where the Institute's researchers meet with their national and foreign colleagues, as well as with theorists working outside the academic field. Through these colloquiums, held in different cities of the country, the relationship with other institutions, interdisciplinary analysis and the dissemination of the work of the critic and the art historian are fostered. This 38th International Colloquium on the History of Art, titled "Animalística" deals with the representation of animals in all their possible meanings linked to the history of art and the multiple readings of them as iconographic and discursive symbols in different periods, cultures and artistic expressions.
