This book covers the pictorial practice of Estudio Jorge Méndez Blake, in which all the series of paintings, either finished or in process, made between 2016 and 2020 are shown. Paying special attention to five pieces that are displayed in full scale 1:1, allowing the visualization of the works in extreme detail. Jorge Mendez Blake practices a different and probably crueler technique: dismantling. Crueler because it operates in a single direction. There is no mantling, there is only dismantling. Crueler, too, because his process making invisible something that is not: it makes the poem visible. It makes an image of it. In truth, Mendez Blake does two things: First, he pulls the poem into the light of visibility. Second, this light makes visible not the poem itself, but the discrepancy between the verbal and the visual.ʺ.
