Summary:
Insatiable composer Andy Emler’s career is nothing short of remarkable, marked by both his solid training at the conservatoire and a keen taste for musical collaborations. Formed over thirty years ago, Emler's group MegaOctet embodies the generous essence unique to big bands, along with his own nod to technology. A true melting pot, this unique ensemble has taken a number of musicians under its wing, as much as it has genres and cultures. Here, we’re discussing virtuosos of the same caliber as Médéric Collignon, and styles as diverse as jazz or rock. Performing on the European stage of the Maillon in Strasbourg, the Parisian pianist and his clan present a concert composed of distinct movements, blending the realms of improvisation and experimentation. Included in the line up, saxophonist Thomas de Pourquery gracefully navigates his imposing presence through tracks as subtle as “Essence-Persévérance” and “Patience-Naissance.” Furthermore, additional saxophonists including Laurent Blondiau, Laurent Dehors and Guillaume Orti bring brilliance to the various stages of this creation, dedicated to the cycles of life. Accompanied by Les Percussions de Strasbourg – the renowned contemporary ensemble connected to Pierre Boulez and Iannis Xenakis – Andy Elmer and the MegaOctet deliver a captivating concert, with expressionist echoes that evoke a universe unlike any other: welcome to the dream… Vincent Caffiaux
