- Summary:
- With her flamboyant personality, Amparo Sánchez handles emotion the same as she handles joy, as this exciting concert shows. As her musicians enter the stage to the sound of Jonathan Richman's "Egyptian Regga," the singer and guitarist sets her mood, suggesting a makeshift cabaret between Tucson and Havana, to echo the title of her first album, *Tucson-Havana* (2010). Back then, the Spanish musician was coming out of a decade with the rock band Amparanoïa. Three years later, she performed Alma de cantaora at the Parisian Au Fil Des Voix Festival, starting with "La flor de la palabra," a performance that also featured the singer and actress Bebe. Close to Manu Chao and Calexico, Amparo Sánchez alternates between folk, rumba, and bolero while expressing her activist nature, supporting ecology and the Zapatistas of Chiapas. It’s rebellion and celebration combined. Eric Delhaye
