Summary:
Keyon Harrold attests to an unfailing open-mindedness, demonstrated by a jazz production liberated from academic codes. The American trumpeter has collaborated with rap figures such as Jay-Z, Beyoncé and Snoop Dogg; was a pivotal part of the soundtrack to Miles Ahead, an excellent biopic devoted to Miles Davis; and is the author of the recent Foreverland, an album featuring keyboardist Robert Glasper (another artist well accustomed to urban genres) and the renowned rapper Common. Recording at the Le Claque studio in Paris for his Analogue session, a unique immersion in the world of vintage keyboards, Keyon Harrold performs three stunning tracks. Aptly titled “The Flow Anthology,” the opening track features an unstoppable dialogue between in-house synthesizers and some ethereal musical phrasing. Introduced by an enticing piano part, “Abandoned Heart” showcases the skill of each musician on stage; a band fused together by the incredible playing of the Missouri native. Finally, “Well Walk Now” attests to the sheer talent and brilliance of the forty-something-year-old. Intimate and effervescent, this Analogue session instills a particularly heady organic atmosphere. Highly recommended for fans of brassy explorations. Vincent Caffiaux
