Summary:

Before releasing her first records in 2015, this British singer was already pretty active on the music scene as a backing vocalist for Mary J. Blige, as well as for Andrea Bocelli, Blur and Damon Albarn. With a voice that seems tinged with the romance of black and white movies, ALA.NI is a jazz singer who came from jazz stock: her great uncle was Leslie Hutchinson, aka Hutch, a music hall star from the 1930s. In this concert, she takes to the stage of the Grande Halle de la Villette, in Paris, for a performance that followed the release of her 2019 album ACCA. Joining her is a very original setup: an accordionist, a cellist, and two beatboxers. Her voice plays the central role, while the different elements of the group respond on pieces whereby the most recent sound the most modern. Hers is a voice that strikes you hard from the first note. Transitioning between French and English, she reinterprets some of the songs from her first album with a modern swing injection. Don’t miss it! Anaïs Christidis Guillemard
