Summary:
This concert was recorded at the Marquee Club in London in 1973, while Rory Gallagher was on a world tour at the age of only twenty-five. It takes no more than 27 minutes for the Irishman to convince us that he is the very incarnation of blues rock. This year too, he was touring the United States, Canada and Europe. It all made for a frenetic pace, one that was combined with excessive medication, and would go on to cost him his life. He died at only 47 years of age. 1973 was also the year he released *Blueprint* and *Tatoo* – the major albums of his career that helped forge his name. It also marked three years from the breakup of his successful band Taste, and the start of his devotion to a solo career. This rock mentality, mixed with his young age and the intoxication of this new life, is clearly palpable in this superb archive piece. The guitarist and singer, hooked to his harmonica as the blues tradition requires, delivers the show. Floriane Esnault
