- From The Costume of China. Illustrated in forty-eight coloured engravings. Published by William Miller, London, 1805. This shows a Chinese soldier. He wears an iron helmet, which bears a tassel of dyed horse hair. The characters on the breast plate denote the corps to which he belongs. The box worn in front contains arrow heads and bow strings. His bow is inside a sheath. His holds a sword.
