- From The Costume of China. Illustrated in forty-eight coloured engravings. Published by William Miller, London, 1805. This figure is described as one of the Lamas inhabiting a temple called Poo-ta-la, situated near the imperial residence at Zhe-hol (Jehol) in Tartary. The priest is clad in the royal colour, yellow, and holds a wide brimmed hat made of straw and split bamboo.
