Summary:

Tang-ku Fort after its capture by the Allied Army on the 14th of August 1860. Panoramic view composed of two joined prints, looking across moats and an expanse of mud towards the battlements of the fort. The date given in the caption conflicts with Beato's date. This is Print 8 in the published catalogue of Beato's China views, and is there titled 'Tangkoo Fort after its Capture, showing the French and English entrance, August 10th, 1860.'
