This is a contemporary copy of the duchess's journal, in her husband's hand. Other papers of the duchess at Blair Castle include: bundle 1625, an 1873 copy of an 1802 copy of the original journal (described as 'in the possession of the Hamilton family'); bundle 1629, notes (dated 1705) on Ussher's 'Body of Divinity'; and box 29.II.4, meditations on the proposed union between Scotland and England written not long before the duchess's death.Published in Mullan (2003).
