Summary:
"In this captivating book, Nyajuok chronicles her life as a South Sudanese girl whose family was forced to move between two refugee camps in Ethiopia, before her family was relocated to the United States by the U.N. as part of the Lost Boys and Girls of Sudan. She tells of her struggles with conforming to traditional norms in a new country, and how she broke the silence in her community about her abuse, arranged marriage, and teen pregnancy. Despite the odds being stacked against her, Nyajuok put herself through school as a single parent, became a nurse, commissioned in the U.S. Army, and did what few thought was attainable. She is now a nurse and entrepreneur, financial literacy coach, and community leader who is helping other immigrants like herself, to share their stories through her group, R.O.S.S (Republic of South Sudan) Girls, breaking the Silence." -- www.iamnyatongyik.com.
