- The main aim of the study was to demonstrate that the material post-industrial heritage can be a factor in economic development through the use of integrated development projects as an important means of reducing legal barriers related to the protection of cultural heritage. Specific objectives were prepared in the following way: 1. The answer to the question whether there was any previously unidentified demand for items of cultural heritage in the form of material post-industrial heritage among different users of the city. 2. Indication of the principles of building an integrated heritage-based product and developing a detailed list of criteria that must be met by heritage objects to be included in the integrated tourist product. 3. Preparation of the list of key objects, which are part of the material post-industrial heritage. 4. Presentation of examples and crucial rules of management the integrated projects combining elements of post-industrial heritage with the identified key aspects. As a leading thesis of dissertation it was assumed that: 1. Cultural heritage of physical industrial heritage is a factor in the development of the city. 2. Existing legal conditions for the protection of cultural heritage and monuments are a limiting factor in the use of industrial heritage for the economic development of the city. 3. Integrated projects are a way of comprehensive utilisation of industrial heritage material for the development of the city. 4. An obstacle to the implementation of integrated development projects are social and excessive political conflicts competition between local government units.
