Since the war in Ukraine broke out, many people had to leave their home in Ukraine. But some chose to stay. They stayed to help the country. Yi KE and Oleksandr were two of them. Yi KE is a PhD candidate from China studying painting at Lviv, Ukraine. At the beginning of the war, Yi's original plan was to leave Lviv for somewhere safe. But the night before leaving, he changed his mind. He decided to stay and do something for Ukrainian people. Because this was how Ukraine people treated him when he was helpless. Yi has received many help from them. Now Ukrainian is in need of help. He raised funds for refugees and voluntarily helping out in the shelter teaching Ukrainian children painting. Yi's Ukrainian friend Oleksandr chose to stay with people in his community, too. Instead of fleeing, he stayed in Kyiv and joined a voluntary patrol team. At nights, he and his team members helped protect people in their neighborhood. During daytime, he performed stand-up comedies in Ukrainian to bring people joy and heal their sufferings. Staying in Ukraine, staying with people there, these two young men are both helping Ukrainian community in their own ways.
