- The BMW Photo Award Leipzig was presented for the first time in 2024. In the future, this prize will be awarded every two years to artists who either have a biographical connection to Leipzig and the region or who consciously engage with the city and its surroundings in their artistic work. It is a precondition that the work be in the medium of photography or in related visual media. As the three winners of the first BMW Photo Award Leipzig Margit Emmrich (*1949), Susanne Keichel (*1981) and Stephan Takkides (*1981) were chosen by the jury. All three deal with current social issues and work more or less documentarily. However, their means differ considerably.
