The book is the outcome of a series of cultural and academic events and exhibitions over the topic of Bauhaus -the German school of design, art and architecture- and its influence in Latin America and from the joint research of the Departments of Architecture and Design (UniAndes), which initiated on the occasion of the centenary of the Bauhaus, in order to critically examine its impact on the material production in Latin America throughout the 20th century. A century later, "the circumstances under which Bauhaus was founded are those that set the stage behind the writing of these lines and the "Bauhaus Reverberada" project: an initiative of the Universidad de los Andes (Colombia), in alliance with the Cinemateca de Bogotá, the Goethe Institut Kolumbien and the Swiss Embassy in Colombia. Bauhaus Reverberada -today converted into a platform for virtual and face-to-face events, to which this edition is added- constitutes an effort to understand the production of the Latin American material world from its relationship with the transcontinental cultural, aesthetic, and pedagogical phenomena, embodied in the mythical school of art, architecture, and design founded by Walter Gropius in Weimar in 1919." --translated from page 15.
