- Summary:
- Rafael "Pali" Lorente (Uruguay 1040) is an architect and plastic artist, who was a student of the Taller Torres García where his teachers were José Gurvich and Guillermo Fernández. This book is a story of different times that have happened around art and architecture, where the author is a witness and at the same time a protagonist of both. It consists of two sections or sectors: The first is the memory of different moments over 80 years. There are 10 chapters that begin in the 1940s and culminate in the 2020s, they feature family members, close friends, teachers and references, as well as some stories and personal reflections. The second is a selection of works that represent the artistic and professional trajectory of more than 60 years as an architect. The works are presented by qualified colleagues of the author and constitute a testimony about the role of the architect in society: with an attitude of service, with the greatest respect for nature, the site, history, the economy and construction, aimed at generating places that contribute, from architecture and art, to facilitate and dignify the life of man by providing the necessary dose of poetry and well-being.
