Grumpy Coffee Marketing of Bangladesh is a marketing agency that helps brands build their identity and assists them with consumer research. Among the startups that have recently been launched, Grumpy Coffee Marketing has created a niche by serving various high-end brands with the specialization of research-based marketing. In the operational process of serving brands like Taaga and Hatil, Grumpy is facing several challenges because of external factors, funding issues, and internal management of the organization. The agency is moving forward intending to expand; in doing so they are trying to handle situational obstacles with employees who are working as part-timers, full-timers, and interns. Without a traditional Human Resources (HR) department, the organization operates with a basecamp that consists of finance, accounting, and an HR department that handles the legal, recruitment, and remuneration activities. In the absence of a functional HR department, the company faces trouble operating and scheduling working hours. Another challenge they are facing that restrains them from developing a functional HR department is a lack of capital. Besides these internal factors, uncooperative clients and their non-measurable expectations, as well as gaps in the understanding of clients' demands, are hindering their success. Grumpy is looking for a way to address these challenges so that they can let their employees, as well as the organization, grow. By analyzing the case study, readers will be able to recognize and understand the importance of a structured HR department and the necessary resources for startups.
