- Summary:
- Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC) has a workforce of 5,222 employees. Its motto is, "Dependable Power-Delighted Customer." During the COVID-19 pandemic, DPDC supported its employees in a variety of ways and had half the workers report on-site each day, which allowed for social distance maintenance. During the pandemic, training procedures were interrupted due to social distancing. Management is trying to find an alternative training method for its new employees. Because new employees did not undergo training and employees who were insufficiently experienced were available and pressed into service, all operations were not covered as well as is ideal. Many workers believe that receiving job-related theoretical knowledge is necessary to complete tasks, which is important for sustainable development. DPDC also has a goal of generating profit. Management is attempting to achieve these goals by the hiring of international consultancy services. This procurement will make DPDC sustain a level of growth that will produce a better and more modern corporation. Keys for future developments include upgrading human resources management and improving institutional capacity. Students will be asked to analyze the impact on workers of the measures taken by DPDC, examine the consequences of compromising workplace safety, develop a more suitable training process, and state how international consultancy services can benefit the organization further.
