- Summary:
- Machel Montano is a Soca music icon and one of the Caribbean's most identifiable performing artists. In the early 2000s, he stepped away from performing at the largest traditional Carnival music event in Trinidad and Tobago and formed an alliance with an established concert promoter to promote a competing venture for which he was the creative mastermind. Titled "Machel Monday," this artist-curated event represented a departure from the traditional promoter-centric concert and delivered innovation to the Caribbean entertainment landscape through collaboration with regional and international artists and enhanced production technology. This case examines the historical, business, and marketing decisions surrounding the Machel Monday live music event.
