- Summary:
- All big-box stores include an emergency action plan (EAP) in their employee training, don't they? Perhaps not, as one customer found out. Jay entered a big-box store and immediately noticed four-foot flames shooting out of the wells on the deep-fry station. No employees were at that station. Jay became increasingly worried about the flames when even employee "passers-by" showed little interest or concern. Soon he surmised that none of the employees knew what to do. Could it be that this big-box store had no EAP? What about employee training? Were there flaws in preparing staff to handle this kind of crisis?
