This dataset presents how critical speculation can be used as a method to imagine alternative futures. The data consists of brief stories developed by young participants of imagining workshops. The dataset is provided by Minna Vigren, a Doctor of Social Sciences, who collected the data as part of research project called "Young People Imagining Media(ted) Futures: Developing a Methodology for Change" funded by the Media Industry Research Foundation of Finland in 2020-2021. The analysis focuses on the kind of alternative futures young people imagined. The dataset file is accompanied by a teaching guide and a student guide, most suitable for advanced students with previous experience in qualitative analysis.
