- Summary:
- This case illustrates the challenges faced by an anonymized but rapidly growing biopharmaceutical organization, Eloquent Pharma, that operates globally across the United States and Asia. Isabelle, a new VP in the Program Management Office of Eloquent Pharma, is faced with the chaos of customer dissatisfaction. This dissatisfaction is due to a number of factors, including difficulties associated with: lack of internal communication and the need to repeat requests, sometimes without the benefit of previous history, to various individuals at Eloquent Pharma; internal teams working in silos; keeping employees abreast of past best practices as well as evolving best practices and technology; the quality and security of delivered services; high turnover; and low morale. Moreover, Eloquent Pharma has experienced a lack of security on some proprietary information. Isabelle was concerned with how Eloquent Pharma managed knowledge. Both as an organization and through individuals, Eloquent Pharma's knowledge provides it with a competitive advantage. Knowledge management includes how internal information is maintained and shared, and how it is controlled to outside parties. Knowledge management also delves into the training and development of individuals within the organization. Concerned about these problems, Isabelle has hired SuperNOVA Clinical Research to suggest a solution that Eloquent Pharma could use to overcome such issues immediately and sustainably. Arielle from SuperNOVA is leading the team of consultants charged with addressing the dilemma for Isabelle. Students will assume a position on Arielle's team and be asked to prepare a recommendation as a consultant for Eloquent Pharma that they can defend in a boardroom of sharks who want the optimal return for their investment.
