Summary:
Lisbon Sephardic liturgy surrounding the deathbed, funeral, and mourning cycle, adopted and confirmed by the established community (title page (f. 2r); the new community, formed during the final decades of the 19th century, mostly composed of Jews from Morocco and Gibraltar, and the Synagogue Shaaré Tikvah consecrated in 1904); the liturgy follows the Viduy (confession), funeral, Zidduk ha-din (f. 3r-4v), and the liturgy around the preparation of the dead for funeral (f. 5r-20r). Written in Sephardic square and semicursive scripts (most of the text), with some written in Solitreo cursive (such as f. 20v-21r), in the hand of former owner Moses Querub (his inscriptions preceding and following the manuscript; recording the death of his father, Shem Tov bar David Querub, on f. 1r, and his additional inscription dated September 1908, Lisbon, on f. 54v, and his autograph "Querub" on title page). Two notes laid in the manuscript, recording deaths and epitaphs by community members (for example, 1: "Levi Salamone di Giacobbe e di Sacerdotte Enrichetta nato a Vercelli ...").
