Despite increased attention paid to health equity in recent years, disparities in health outcomes and access to care persist across disease areas, including in central nervous system disorders. The National Academies Forum on Neuroscience and Nervous System Disorders hosted a public workshop in November 2023 to reflect on strategies to advance equitable practices in neuroscience and improve data quality by engaging more diverse populations in the research process; acknowledging systematic, technological, and internal biases; and considering inclusive research models.
