About the author: Dieter Unger is a long-standing industry expert in Germany. He gained experience in sales, planning and maintenance of lift systems from manufacturers and as head of the technology center for conveyor technology at DB Services GmbH, a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn AG. There he was responsible for the nationwide support of lifts and escalators. Since 2015 he has been employed by the VDMA, the biggest machinery association in Europe. In this function he is active in the creation of national and international standards and guidelines.
