Summary:

Sam tiene once años y le encantan los datos. También le encanta recopilar historias y sucesos fantásticos. Quiere saber sobre ovnis y películas de miedo, aeronaves y fantasmas. También quiere saber qué se siente al tomarse el primer trago de cerveza, al dar la primera calada a un cigarrillo a escondidas..al besar por primera vez a una chica. Sam quiere saber como se sienten los adolescentes, porque él no llegará a serlo. Tiene leucemia, y aunque los adultos resp ondan con ambigüedad y eviten hablar de algunos temas, Sam quiere conocer todos los datos y detalles sobre la muerte. Esta dispuesto a averiguar las respuestas a las preguntas que nadie quiere contestar. Y por eso decide escribir un libro. Un libro que es un diario sobre él, pero también "una investigación científica" con observaciones, listas de datos probados de cosas que quiere hacer algún día (como batir un récord del mundo, volar en un dirigible o ver películas de terror para adultos) y reflexiones sobre sus preguntas. De la mano de sus padres, de su hermana Ella, y de su amigo Félix, con el que vivirá momentos entrañables, Sam compartirá con nosotros su particular conmovedora y por momentos divertida visión del mundo y de sus propias circunstancias, revelándose como la voz de un ser excepcional transformado por la inmensidad de lo que le espera.

Sam is an inquisitive 11-year-old, who loves facts, collecting stories and fantastic events. He wants to know all there is to know about UFOs, scary movies, airplanes, and ghosts. He also wants to know how it feels to take one's first sip of beer, first puff on a cigarette, or how it feels to kiss a girl for the very first time. Sam wants to know all there is to know about teenagers because he won't ever be one. He has leukemia and, while adults are ambiguous or avoid getting to the details, Sam also wants the facts when it comes to death. He needs answers to the questions that no one will answer. So he decides to write a book: a diary about himself but also "a scientific investigation", with observations, reflections and facts and figures about the things he one day hopes to do (like beat a world record, fly an airship or watch a real horror movie). Together with his parents, his sister Ella and his best friend Felix, all of whom share many precious moments with Sam, the ambitious young boy invites his readers to see life in his kooky and poignant way. As Sam writes his way through his experience of the world, he reveals the unique and special voice of a child coming to terms with the immensity of his circumstances.
